TMJ Treatment

Jaw pain and clicking?
It might be TMJ disorder

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is located on each side of the head, where the skull and lower jaw meet. It’s the most used joint, enabling us to speak, chew, and open/close our mouth. Issues with the TMJ can lead to disorders, often causing long-term symptoms that affect quality of life.

Signs of TMJ Disorders

TMJ disorders can be caused by factors such as arthritis, injuries, disc displacement between the jawbone and socket, stress, and teeth grinding (bruxism).

TMJ Disorder Treatments

Diagnosing TMJ disorders can be complex and may require various tests. Treatment options include stress management, bite plates, splint therapy, or short-term pain relief medications. If these don’t work, we may refer you to a TMJ specialist or Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon for further options, including arthroscopy, arthrocentesis, or joint reconstruction.
